wedding reception venue: review of the KP Club Glasshouse in Pocklington
Thursday, June 25th, 2009This is a relatively new wedding venue. It has a contemporary feel to the styling with plenty of interesting reflective surfaces to make wedding photography indoors that little bit more exciting. The main reception is held upstairs which rather discourages anyone from wandering around outside, which is a pity. There is a balcony with plenty of seating so smokers tend to congregate there in a sociable manner.
The sofa on the balcony with the neutral blue-ish background makes for a comfortable alternative to standing up like a bus queue for family wedding portraits!
wedding guests get a ringside seat in comfort viewing the proceedings from the balcony
Downstairs by the infinity pool, these surreal plastic armchairs that look as if they should be soft, add another dimension to outdoor wedding photography.

Winter wedding storybook album – wedding photography Leeds
Friday, February 20th, 2009This is a recent winter wedding, as chosen by the bride and groom from hundreds of possible images.
We always take plenty of casual, non-posed pictures, documenting the full day, so the couple are free to make up their own album according to their personalities. The very same original images could just as easily be made up into a fun wedding storybook with all the kids running riot and the happy exchanges between wedding guests, or a more relaxed, classical view of their day. The couple are consulted at every stage of the image selection – usually spending around 3 hours with us going through their choices and if they decide to go for a designed storybook album – as this couple did – they are free to get involved in the final layout, as its their personal wedding album, not just an exercise in arty design.
Emotions, expressions and important relationships between families are usually the key reason for their preferred images being included in the album – some choosing mainly of themselves and other showing the full story of their day. In this storybook they even included the pictures about the fire alarm that sounded – just as the bride was about to change into her wedding dress in the morning – and the firemen visiting their hotel in Leeds while everyone piled outside on the opposite pavement, to wait for the all-clear!
Below is a selection of pages from Hayley & Chris’s wedding album…

Winter wedding at Chevin Lodge Hotel in Otley, West Yorkshire
Sunday, November 18th, 2007
Its Donna & Robert’s first wedding anniversary today 17 November, so had really wanted to have their wedding album complete with photos as a nice surprise (they only ordered them recently as have both had immense sadnesses in their lives since the wedding), but missed my self-imposed deadline by a few hours. Anyway, have just finished working on their wed pics, the jpgs are burnt to the DVD for printing and on their way to the lab in Bradford tonight, courtesy of my husband, Jorge.
Its amazing what you can do even in the pitch dark! We switched on the video light to add and extra dimension to these traditional family wedding photos out doors after the sun had set on a cold November’s evening. The bride and bridesmaid must have been perished but they were up for anything to get good pictures for their wedding album.
A handheld low-light indoor photo on the spiral staircase inside Chevin Lodge Hotel in Otley, a labour of love in Photoshop, and some extra processing with another piece of editing software, and this duplex monochrome image emerges shining from the dark.
