Manchester Reform Synagogue building – on Jackson Row near Deansgate – exterior detail September 2017, with Jewish Star of David and 7 branch candlestick symbols set in windows of Synagogue.
This was my very first time inside a Synagogue, and consequently my first experience of a Tefillin Ceremony. As I understand it, its the first time a 13 year old boy gets the right to wear words from the Torah (Jewish “Bible” Scrolls) in a little black box on his forehead. Since this tradition is thousands of years old, my words won’t add much to the understanding of it, but hopefully seeing it in pictures will be interesting at least!
